About Kamakura Arts Theatre

Kamakura Arts Theatre is an arts facility located in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Opened in 1993 as a new cultural facility for Kamakura City, it features large and small halls, exhibition galleries, meeting rooms, and rehearsal spaces.
Kamakura Arts Theatre / Capacity & Seating
The main venues consist of a large hall with 1,500 seats and a small hall with 600 seats. The large hall is a three-story shoebox-type multipurpose hall with a slightly narrowed front and back design that creates rich acoustic resonance.
Kamakura Arts Theatre / Nearest Station
The nearest station to Kamakura Arts Theatre is Ofuna Station (JR Negishi Line / JR Tokaido Line / JR Yokosuka Line / JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line / Shonan Monorail). Walking time is approximately 10-15 minutes from either the East Exit or Kasama Exit (North Exit).

From Ofuna Station East Exit (JR Lines)
If heading to Kamakura Arts Theatre from JR Ofuna Station (JR Negishi Line / JR Tokaido Line / JR Yokosuka Line / JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line) East Exit, meet at the South ticket gate.

After exiting JR Ofuna Station South Gate, turn left and go down using the escalator, stairs, or elevator – whichever you prefer.

Upon exiting the station, you’ll see a police box directly in front. Cross the pedestrian crossing and walk between the police box and Sundrug store. (If using Shonan Monorail, after exiting the gates you’ll see the scenery shown in the image below, so it’s easier to follow the East Exit access route to Kamakura Arts Theatre.)

From here, continue straight for a while. The sidewalk is wider and easier to walk on compared to the other access route, so if multiple people are heading to Kamakura Arts Theatre, this route is recommended.

Continuing straight, you’ll see a FamilyMart on your left. Don’t turn here, continue along the road.

You’ll see Ofuna Chuo Hospital across the street. Cross the pedestrian crossing and proceed in the direction shown by the arrow. You’re almost at Kamakura Arts Theatre now!

Finally, the exterior of Kamakura Arts Theatre comes into view. The audience entrance is at the back, so proceed in the direction of the arrow.

From Ofuna Station Kasama Exit (North Exit)
If heading to Kamakura Arts Theatre from JR Ofuna Station (JR Negishi Line / JR Tokaido Line / JR Yokosuka Line / JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line) Kasama Exit, meet at the North ticket gate.

After exiting the North ticket gate, turn right and descend to ground level.

Upon exiting the station, you’ll see a pedestrian crossing. Cross it and proceed in the direction of the arrow.

From here, continue straight along the road. (You’ll see SEIYU on your right.)

When you reach the intersection with Ito-Yokado and BOOK-OFF, cross the pedestrian crossing and proceed as shown in the diagram with BOOK-OFF on your left. Kamakura Arts Theatre is very close now!

Kamakura Arts Theatre / Basic Information
Use an IC card for convenient access to coin lockers at the station. Arrive early to familiarize yourself with the area and find parking if driving. There are convenience stores and restaurants near Ofuna Station for meals before events. Both walking routes take similar time, but the East Exit route has wider sidewalks for groups.
