About NHK Hall

NHK Hall is a major concert venue located within the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo. The hall hosts the famous annual Kohaku Uta Gassen New Year’s music show, regular NHK Symphony Orchestra concerts, and diverse performances including classical, opera, ballet, and pop concerts.

NHK Hall has a large capacity of over 3,600 seats, yet maintains an intimate atmosphere where audiences feel close to the stage. The venue’s design ensures excellent acoustics and sightlines throughout the hall.
NHK Hall / Nearest Station
The four nearest stations to NHK Hall are: Shibuya Station (JR Lines, Tokyo Metro, Tokyu Lines, Keio Inokashira Line) – 12 minutes walk, Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) – 10 minutes walk, Meiji-jingumae Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda/Fukutoshin Lines) – 10 minutes walk, and Yoyogi-koen Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line) – 5 minutes walk.
NHK Hall / Coin Lockers
Coin lockers are available at all nearby stations. At Shibuya Station, numerous locker areas are located throughout the station complex, particularly near the JR Hachiko exit and in the underground passages. Harajuku Station has lockers near both the East and Omotesando exits. Meiji-jingumae Station offers lockers near exits 2 and 4. Yoyogi-koen Station has a smaller selection near the main exit. Locker sizes typically range from small (¥300-400), medium (¥500-600), to large (¥700-800). IC cards are accepted at most locations. During event days, lockers fill up quickly, so arrive early to secure storage.
From Shibuya Station (JR Lines, Tokyo Metro, Tokyu Lines, Keio Inokashira Line)
Shibuya Station has many connecting lines and a complex layout, so for access to NHK Hall, meeting at the famous Hachiko statue area is recommended. If using JR lines, exit from Hachiko Gate.

After gathering at Hachiko, cross the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Walk to the right side of the building with TSUTAYA and Starbucks.

After walking for a while, you’ll see MODI covered with green leaves. Turn left here.

Continue walking straight along the road. You’ll see PARCO on your left, but continue straight as shown.

About 50 meters after passing PARCO, you’ll see NHK across the crosswalk. Don’t go left toward NHK Studio Park – continue straight and walk through the zelkova tree-lined street.

From Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) / Meiji-jingumae Station (Tokyo Metro)
From JR Harajuku Station, use the Omotesando Exit. From Meiji-jingumae Station, use the Yoyogi Park direction gate and head to Exit 2.

After exiting, turn right and cross the bridge as shown. Be careful not to head toward Meiji Shrine in the opposite direction!

Right after crossing the bridge, there’s a pedestrian bridge. Walk in the direction shown, passing in front of Yoyogi National Gymnasium First Gymnasium.

When you reach the zelkova tree-lined street, NHK Hall is very close. You can faintly see NHK Hall behind the trees – continue in the direction of the arrow.

NHK Hall / Basic Information
Bring an IC card for convenient locker payment at nearby stations. Arrive early on event days as coin lockers fill up quickly and crowds can be heavy. The nearest convenience stores are located in Shibuya Station and along the walking routes. The famous zelkova tree-lined street between NHK Hall and Yoyogi National Gymnasium is illuminated as the ‘Blue Cavern’ during winter months, creating a beautiful light display.
